I am so Happy to see you here.
While I was debating the topic of my first post I thought to myself that it should tell you a little bit about me and why I created this site. If you want to read more about me you can take a look at my pages.
Most people have periods in their life where they go through life changing moments and later they realize what changed after defining moments.
My rapidly changing life.
I had my children at a very young age and at 20 I was a single mom of 2 toddlers, I didn’t want that to define me and I went to college and started to climb the corporate ladder. During my college years I met the love of my life, added two wonderful boys to our family and got married.
Little did I know that a successful corporate career and being a mother to four children can be a hard act of balancing.
With a masters in Applied Finance & Economics and another masters in Accounting I was able to land my dream job at 30. I was a CFO of the Central Bank in Iceland and the country was going through a financial crisis where all the banks had been “taken down”. Needless to say my job required long hours and lot’s of traveling which led to little time at home reflecting in stress for both me and my family.
One day I picked up my youngest son at daycare and his friend asked “who is this” my son replied “it’s my mom” and the friend looked at me and said “I didn’t know you had one”. That boy’s mom was running to be president in our country, a mother of 5 and pregnant, she was more hands on at school then I was!!! My sacrifice was real and it hurt me and my family in multiple ways.
Fast forward to 2013.
I was in a car accident and suffered from chronic pain that led to my body slowly “giving up” and by the end of the year I couldn’t walk without being in pain and little activities like brushing my hair was too hard. In the beginning of 2014 I started to give up and in February I had a nervous breakdown which I am happy to say I survived.
That was my turning point – I took leave of absence from my corporate job and started to focus on getting healthy. The rest of the year I spent at multiple pain clinics, hospitals, doctor’s offices and with other specialists. By the end of the year it was clear that I would not return to my corporate job, and I resigned from the job that I had sacrificed so much for. With 2 master degrees and years of experience I had no idea how I was going to make an income, my background was in a field that I no longer could work in.
I was only 35 years old and the doctors told me I would most likely never drive a car again, walk without support, hike up a mountain, have a day without pain, run, sit in front of a computer and the list goes on
Fast forward to today.
I live in San Diego and my health has gotten so much better, I can drive, run, swim, and live a normal life. I just finished my yoga teacher training and I teach yoga a few times a week, I rock climb with my boys, we hike on a regular basis and I am not depressed anymore.
The reason I want to blog and share my journey is I want to inspire others with my journey. I felt like I lost my life and I found it again in a much better way, I am Inspired by Life and I want you to be also Inspired by Life.
